Audio Guide Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt (Fürstenhaus)
The Franz Liszt School of Music is a place of special significance in the heart of the city of Weimar. It is one of the oldest music schools in Germany, established in 1872 as the first orchestral school in the country. The institution was named in honour of the great composer Franz Liszt, who was born in Reichenberg, near Weimar.
The university is housed in the "Palais des Princes" (Fürstenhaus), a historic architectural monument built in the 18th century and formerly serving as a parliamentary and government building. Here students can pursue a degree in music and art, choosing from a variety of programmes including classical music, jazz, pop and music education.
The school has a rich history and is one of the most respected educational institutions in Germany. Many famous musicians have studied and created here, including Johannes Brahms, Richard Strauss and Kurt Weill.
The Franz Liszt School of Music is a great place for those seeking higher education in music and art. Here you can not only study, but also immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the old town and discover its rich history.
