The Goethe House Museum in Weimar is a museum located in the house where the famous German poet and writer Johann Wolfgang Goethe lived and died.

This house was built between 1707 and 1709 for chamber-commissar and stocking merchant Georg Caspar Helmershausen. In 1782 Goethe rented the western half of the house, where he lived until 1789. During this period Goethe lived with his sister Cornelia, who took care of his household. In 1788 his mother, Katharina Elisabeta Goethe, moved into the house and lived there until her death in 1808. In 1789 Goethe moved to another house, and the western half of the house was given to another tenant. Since then, the house was passed from one owner to another until it became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Classical Weimar" in 1998.

Today it is home to a museum, which is an exhibition of Goethe's life and work, as well as that of his family and friends. Original furnishings, Goethe's personal belongings, as well as his manuscripts and first editions of his works can be seen in the museum. In the Goethe House Museum in Weimar you can see many unique interior items that reflect the life and work of Goethe, as well as his family and friends. For example, the writing table. This table was made especially for Goethe in the 1780s and was used by him to write many of his works.
