Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, a beautiful place with thousands of years of history. This city is located in the heart of Europe and has played an important role in the history of this continent. Its history is closely connected with the Middle Ages, when Prague was not only a center of trade and culture, but also the residence of Czech kings and Holy Roman Emperors. 

The name of the city is associated with the Czech word "prah" (threshold), meaning "river threshold", of which there are several within Prague.

Prague's symbol and greatest architectural achievement is Prague Castle, built in the 9th century. This castle is not only a symbol of the city, but also an important historical site where issues that influenced the fate of Bohemia and Europe were decided. Karel IV, one of the most prominent kings of the Czech Republic, carried out a number of reforms, actively expanding Prague Castle and contributing to the development of the city.

An important moment in Prague's history was the Reformation period in the 15th century, when the city became one of the centers of religious activity in Europe. The Medieval and Renaissance eras made Prague a place where science, literature and art flourished.

In the 20th century, Prague witnessed many important events, including the Prague Spring uprising in 1968 and its active role in the collapse of the Soviet Union. Today, Prague is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its rich history, cultural heritage and stunning architecture.

For example, this city is called "the city of towers" as there are more than 1000 towers, including ancient, public and private buildings. Here you can see the narrowest house on earth, its width is only 225 centimeters. The city is proud of its brewing culture and Czech beer, including the famous Pilsen beer, is an integral part of Czech culture. Prague is also famous for its literary tradition, including the works of Franz Kafka and Jaroslav Hašek.

Prague's medieval architecture is breathtaking in its majestic beauty - you'll find beautiful castles, cathedrals and the streets of the Old Town. Charles Bridge, one of the most important architectural landmarks, is decorated with many sculptures and towers. The Czech Republic is famous for its brewing traditions, and Prague is no exception.
